RunNUS 2011

RunNUS is an annual running event organised by the NUS Students’ Sports Club (NUSSSC). The event aims to generate interest in sporting events and to promote a healthy lifestyle among the NUS population and the public.

Already in its fifth year, RunNUS has grown from a small marathon into an event that defines life at NUS. Being the first major sporting event in the new academic year, it provides a platform for students, staff, and alumni of NUS, to gather with friends and rediscover the NUS heritage.

After the huge success last year, RunNUS is partnering again with NUS’s Annual Giving Campaign. Annual Giving is an annual appeal to the NUS community to help fund university wide bursaries and scholarships, enabling students to have a fulfilling university experience.

The route has been designed with utmost care to take runners through scenic roads with minimal obstacles to ease their pain as they inch towards the finish line. RunNUS would again incorporate the technology of running chips to ensure better accuracy and faster retrieval of race results.

Not forgetting the element of fun, RunNUS will incorporate a carnival that offers on-stage and on-route performances, bazaars, games, and refreshments. The carnival this year would elevate RunNUS’s status from just a running event into an event that paints the whole of NUS with a festive atmosphere.

This event requires volunteers to stayover with accommodation provided. It is also my first time staying over at NUS. We were given the luxury of sleeping in one of the sports halls that is fully air-conditioned. However, waking up in the wee hours of the morning is altogether a different story.

The Mushroom Pot

The Mushroom Pot is Singapore's first mushroom hot pot restaurant. Indulge in the best of Chinese fusion cuisine featuring more than 20 types of imported and wild mushrooms. With their signature mushroom hot pot (steamboat) and a variety of exciting mushroom dishes, this restaurant puts a refreshing twist to traditional Chinese cuisine.

Dip into The Mushroom Pot's signature hot pot for a delightful and nourishing treat. The genius of The Mushroom Pot is their fabulous wild mushroom soup, accompanied by more than 20 types of wild mushrooms and fresh meat and seafood. The Mushroom Pot will awaken your palette to the delicious taste of mushrooms and give new meaning to your traditional steamboat.

Serene’s birthday was celebrated here. The buffet dinner is worth paying for and the place is rather cosy. The creative mushroom dishes will make your mouth water. I would not mind coming back here to eat again.

Festival Of Praise 2011

Festival Of Praise is an annual inter-denominational event that gathers Christians from all over Singapore for a time of prayer and worship. Now in its 25th year running, the festival this year welcomes acclaimed author and renowned speaker, John Bevere, who will be ministering the Word of God each night. Leading the congregation in worship will be New Life Worship from the United States of America, and worship leader Andrew Yeo from The City Church, Singapore. This August, fellow believers will come together for a time of celebration over two nights at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

It brings me great joy to be able to join my friends for Festival Of Praise 2011. We may come from different churches of various denominations, but here, we put our differences aside and come together to praise and worship the same God.
